Nadje Noordhuis and James Shipp

For a decade, James Shipp and Nadje Noordhuis have honed their unique and expansive project, which combines intimate jazz duo interaction with electronic textures.

From Maryland, USA, James Shipp is a vibraphonist, percussionist, and synthesist. He recently released his first album of songs, “JAmes Shipp Sings His Famous Songs”, and played on GRAMMY-nominated albums by the Anat Cohen Tentet and Miho Hazama’s M’Unit. He currently tours with Anat Cohen’s Quartetinho. Shipp has worked with Carnegie Hall’s outreach programs to bring music into prisons, hospitals, and shelters since 2010. He is currently the Musical Director of Carnegie Hall’s Lullaby Program.

From Sydney, Australia, and based in New York for twenty years, trumpeter/composer Nadje Noordhuis was a semi-finalist in the 2007 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition and the 2010 National Jazz Awards in Australia. She has played on two GRAMMY-winning recordings, and six other GRAMMY-nominated albums across a variety of musical genres. She tours with the Maria Schneider Orchestra, Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society, Anat Cohen Tentet, Matt Wilson’s Honey and Salt, and Fred Hersch’s Leaves of Grass project. She also leads her own quintet and a duo with pianist Luke Howard.
