Nadje Noordhuis and James Shipp

For seven years, James Shipp and Nadje Noordhuis have honed their unique and expansive project, which combines intimate jazz duo interaction with celestial electronic textures.

From Maryland, USA, James Shipp is a vibraphonist, percussionist, and synthesist who has played with Anat Cohen, Kurt Elling, Paquito D’Rivera, and Kate McGarry. He is in the process of releasing an album of original songs, maintains adventurous Brazilian and Irish bands, and makes music in prisons and shelter across NYC for Carnegie Hall.

From Sydney/New York, trumpeter/composer Nadje Noordhuis was a semi-finalist in the 2007 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition and the 2010 National Jazz Awards in Australia. She plays with the Grammy winning Maria Schneider Orchestra, and the Grammy-nominated Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society and Anat Cohen Tentet. She also leads her own quintet and a duo with pianist Luke Howard.
